News / Announcements

We now have 10 board games in the black bin (under the pool overhang), thanks to volunteers Julie Cornelius and Sue Derge.  “We hope the games will be used by all residents . . . not just swimmers,” Julie said.  “Sue and I were down there at 7 last night and whether you swim or not, it is a beautiful spot to sit and talk, with games available!”  P.S. There is a new Lost and Found laundry basket.

Information packet & proxy form will be distributed 10 days prior to the meeting.  If you’re unable to attend, please designate a proxy to ensure we have quorum for important votes.

The Cherokee II Condo Association seeks candidates for five openings on the Board of Directors to be elected at the June 29 annual meeting.  Each of our 9 Directors has a staggered 3-year term, so three seats are up for election each year. In addition, two Directors elected in 2025 have resigned, so these two seats are up for 2-year terms. All five terms will begin on August 1, 2026.

Our Association is a self-managed non-profit corporation responsible for 14 structures with 168 units, a pool, and 18+ acres of land. We operate as a “working” board of volunteers responsible for managing the Association’s property and operations and otherwise implementing our bylaws and rules.  It is critical that we have a full board committed to serving our Cherokee II community.

Board members regularly attend monthly Board meetings; review reports, requests and complaints; interact with our maintenance team and other professional advisors; participate in planning, budgeting, and other projects; and communicate with Association members. No experience is required, just a desire to engage and learn. Time commitments vary based on level of engagement, time of year, and ongoing business.

Many residents have expressed an interest in knowing more about Association business. This is your opportunity to be in the room where it happens! Being on the Board is not only a great service to our community, but also an opportunity to meet and work with others in Cherokee II.  Moreover, because members are volunteers, we avoid paying a professional management service, which has kept condo fees lower. A management service could add up to 10% or more to monthly assessment fees.

Please consider contributing to the success of our Association by becoming a member of the Board. Contact any current Board member with questions or for further information.  If you choose to become a candidate please complete and return the attached information sheet to submit your candidacy.  We will include each candidate’s unedited information sheet (as submitted) with the annual meeting packet distributed to members prior to the annual meeting.
